Prof. Dr. Yalçın SARIKAYA
Prof. Dr. Yalçın Sarıkaya is a faculty member in the Department of Political History and Head of the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Giresun University. He completed his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in International Relations at Gazi University. He began his academic career at Gazi University in 2000 and has been serving at Giresun University since 2008.
Prof. Dr. Sarıkaya’s research focuses on Turkish foreign policy, geopolitics, Turkic world studies, Iran, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. He has published numerous scholarly books, book chapters, and journal articles in these areas. His work particularly contributes to the literature on Turkish foreign policy, the Karabakh issue, Caucasian geopolitics, and Iran.
In addition to his academic publications, Prof. Dr. Sarıkaya has been involved in various national and international research projects. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and supervises theses in the field of International Relations. Through courses such as international politics, geopolitical thought, and contemporary international issues, he contributes to students’ academic development.
Prof. Dr. Sarıkaya has also contributed to the development of the department and faculty through various academic and administrative roles at the university. In this context, alongside his academic activities, he actively takes part in institutional processes and organizational development.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayten MEHMED AKSAÇ
Dr. Ayten Mehmed Aksaç is a faculty member and Vice Chair of the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Giresun University. She completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in International Relations at Uludağ University. She received her Ph.D. from the Middle East and Islamic Countries Research Institute at Marmara University, in the program of Middle Eastern Political History and International Relations.
Dr. Aksaç’s research focuses on Middle Eastern politics, Gulf countries, regional security policies, Türkiye–Middle East relations, and Russia–Iran relations. She has published scholarly books, book chapters, and journal articles in these areas. Her academic work particularly examines the foreign and security policies of Gulf Cooperation Council states and Türkiye’s relations with the Gulf region.
At Giresun University, Dr. Aksaç teaches undergraduate courses such as History of Political Thought, Research Methods in Social Sciences, Gender Equality, Climate Change and Global Politics and Ottoman Diplomatic History. She has been serving at Giresun University since 2018 and contributes to the academic and administrative activities of the department through her teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Tolga ÇIKRIKÇI
Dr. Tolga Çıkrıkçı is a faculty member and Vice Chair of the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Giresun University. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in International Relations at Karadeniz Technical University and received his Ph.D. in International Relations from Gazi University. Between 2022 and 2023, he conducted academic research as a visiting scholar at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
Dr. Çıkrıkçı’s academic research focuses on security studies, human security, international law, migration and refugee studies, European studies, and regional security issues. He has published numerous book chapters with international publishing houses, peer-reviewed journal articles, and conference papers in these fields.
At Giresun University, Dr. Çıkrıkçı teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses, including international law, international human rights law, international organizations, migration and refugee studies, and related subjects. He also supervises graduate theses and contributes to academic research activities in the field of international relations.
Having served at Giresun University since 2009, Dr. Çıkrıkçı has also undertaken various administrative responsibilities and actively contributes to the academic and institutional development of the department alongside his teaching and research activities.
