Head of Department Prof. Dr. Yalçın SARIKAYA conducted meetings, evaluations, and inspections in Azerbaijan between August 3–6, 2026, as part of an event titled “Workshop on Reconstruction, Stability, and Regional Cooperation in the South Caucasus,” led by TADİV (Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation, and Solidarity Foundation) in cooperation with the Intercultural Network Association. Within the scope of the event, meetings, observations, and assessments were carried out in the cities of Baku, Aghdam, Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin.

Representatives from major media organizations, including Anadolu Agency, Haber Global, CNN Türk, Habertürk, Milliyet Newspaper, Türkiye Newspaper, Yeni Şafak Newspaper, ATV, ODA TV, Polemik Medya, and Independent Türkiye, took part in the delegation.

On the first day of the program, the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial were visited. Following this, the Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Hikmet Hajiyev, received the delegation, delivered a comprehensive speech, and subsequently provided the delegation with an opportunity to ask questions.

During the Karabakh program that commenced immediately afterward, the delegation first traveled to Aghdam by road. In addition to the intensive reconstruction, demining, and resettlement efforts there, newly constructed factories were also visited.

Heading from Aghdam to Khankendi via Askeran, the delegation toured the provinces of Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin, establishing contacts with local officials and residents. Reconstruction, development, resettlement, and production activities in these provinces and their surrounding villages were observed on site.

On the final day of the event, a highly significant meeting was held in Baku at the Center of Analysis of International Relations, commonly known as the AIR Center. Here, the Director of the AIR Center, Dr. Javid Valiyev, delivered an academic presentation, informing the press about the true dimensions of Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations, how far they have come, why there are attempts to sabotage them, and which critical aspects require careful consideration.
